China’s Xiamen Tungsten Raised APT Bid Price for the Second Half of August

China’s ammonium paratungstate (APT) and tungsten powder prices remain strong on August 16, 2022 when the supply of raw materials is limited as the production capacity of mining and smelting enterprises has been restrained due to high temperature. 

At present, tungsten concentrate price stands at about $18,153.8/ton with strong rised mentality of sellers; APT price is about $309.4/mtu on the support of the cost; tungsten powder price hovers around $41.2/kg but the consumer sentiment of cemented carbide enterprises has not improved significantly. 

China’s Xiamen Tungsten quoted APT bid price at $306.8/mtu, up $7.8/mtu compared with the first half of this month. 

Macroscopically, (1) China's national economy continued to recover. According to the Bureau of Statistics, in July, the added value of industries above designated size increased by 3.8% year-on-year and 0.38% month-on-month; the total retail sales of consumer goods increased by 2.7% year-on-year and 0.27% month-on-month; The national urban surveyed unemployment rate was 5.4 percent, down 0.1 percentage point from the previous month. From January to July, the national fixed asset investment (excluding farmers) was 31981.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.7%. (2) The high inflation status and tight monetary measures of major overseas economies have led to greater pressure on the global economy and consumer market, especially after the EU embargoes Russian oil, international energy prices will rise.
