China Tungsten Price Was Strong in the Middle of August 2022

Analysis of latest tungsten market from Chinatungsten Online

China tungsten price was strong in the week ended on Friday, August 12, 2022 due to the significant cost pressure imposed by the external environment, the rise of new guide prices from enterprises and association, and the domestic economic recovery measures that benefit the market demand.

In the tungsten concentrate market, mining and smelting enterprises are holding on to the market due to environmental maintenance. The overall resources in the spot market are limited, especially low-level resources are difficult to find. However, due to the cautious attitude of intermediate traders and downstream users in receiving goods, it is difficult to increase the volume of transactions at high levels.

In the APT market, the rising price of raw materials has increased the support of market costs, superimposed the pressure of environmental protection and inflation, smelting enterprises have cautiously avoided the risk of price inversion. The current offer has risen to about $307.7/mtu. The industry's expectations for the market outlook are divided, mainly because the unstable factors on the macro side have shaken the market's mentality, and market trading and negotiation are still cautious.

In the tungsten powder market, the increase in cost pushes powder merchants to follow up passively, and some offers are tested at $41.5/kg, but the overall growth rate of consumption of downstream cemented carbide and its products is limited. High temperature and off-season factors are still affecting the market production and trading. In addition, the uncertainty of the epidemic and geopolitical risks still exist, and most buyers make their purchasing plans mainly on what they actual needs.
