China’s Ammonium Paratungstate Price Stabilizes in the Middle of July 2022

The ammonium paratungstate (APT) and tungsten powder prices are unchanged from the previous trading day on July 13, 2022. Imported inflation has led to significant cost pressures in the market. At the same time, overseas tightening monetary measures have caused the consumer market to slump. Upstream and downstream supply and demand in the tungsten products industry is in a stalemate. 

In the tungsten concentrate market, domestic environmental protection and safety requirements are combined with rising global prices, and the production costs of mining and smelting enterprises are relatively high. However, the external environment continues to face uncertain pressures such as the epidemic and geographical conflicts, and downstream terminal customers remain cautious in receiving goods. There are many spot transactions in the market, and the price high-grade resources is consolidating at around $16,923.1/ton. 

In the APT market, the contradiction between supply and demand in the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain still exists. Although the domestic energy price stabilization mechanism and the measures to stabilize the growth of promotional fees in the second half of the year are expected to relieve some of the pressure on costs and demand, affected by the shock of the international trade environment, the consumption sentiment of downstream users is generally cautious. The APT market still has obvious resistance to break through the $295.5/mtu mark.

In the tungsten powder market, the willingness of the raw material side to stabilize the market has increased, the outflow of low-level resources is limited, and the enthusiasm for purchasing alloys and their downstream consumers is limited. The powder market is deadlocked, and the price is consolidating at around $39.2/kg.
