Jiangxi's Copper, Tungsten, and Rare Earth Industries Rank First in Domestic

The copper, tungsten, and rare earth industries in Jiangxi Province occupy the first positions in China. At the press conference on the economic operation of the province in the first three-quarters of the economic operation series of 2020, Fu Yuhui, director of the Non-ferrous Industry Division of the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, introduced that the province’s Non-ferrous Industry is a pillar industry of the Province, the scale of the industry ranks first in the same industry in our country (the copper, tungsten, and rare earth industries occupy the first positions respectively).

The Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government has always attached great importance to the development of the nonferrous industry and identified it as the vanguard in the "2+6+N" plan to break through the scale of trillion yuan.

Faced with the impact of the epidemic this year, Jiangxi Province has fully implemented the chain length system. Governor Yi Lianhong served as the chain leader of the non-ferrous metal industry chain. He rushed to various places to conduct research, hold special seminars, and provide support for entering enterprises.

The province issued a targeted policy document such as 16 rare earth industry and 16 copper industry, to help non-ferrous enterprises in the province effectively deal with the unfavorable environment of the copper price plummeting at the beginning of the year and the sharp reduction in overseas orders, and quickly and orderly resume work and production.

In the first three quarters of this year, the province's non-ferrous industry realized an operating income of 502.16 billion yuan, an increase of 13.1% year-on-year, and the growth rate ranked among the top in the province. Among them, Guixi City, the pilot area, achieved an operating income of 267.39 billion yuan (including Jiangxi Copper Group), a year-on-year increase of 17.7%. It is estimated that the province's non-ferrous industry can achieve revenue of 720 billion yuan this year, an increase of nearly 10% year-on-year, which fully reflects the "ballast stone" role of the non-ferrous industry in the province's industry.

The copper, tungsten, and rare earth industries in Jiangxi Province occupy the first positions in domestic will boost the non-ferrous industry in the Province. Director Fu said that as a traditional industry, the non-ferrous industry in the Province also has a long-standing irrational industrial structure, not many leading companies, lack of key core technologies, a low proportion of high-end products, low level of intelligence, and green development tasks.

Focusing on the inevitable difficulties and challenges in the transition from the high-speed growth stage to the high-quality development stage, we are confident that we will work with relevant departments to promote the deepening and solidification of the chain length system of the non-ferrous metal industry chain.

Jiangxi Province will rely on the abundant resource of copper, tungsten, and rare earth and the innovative advantages of these key R&D platforms to focus on breakthroughs in a number of key common technologies, focusing on applications such as rare earth permanent magnet materials and permanent magnet motors to promote the high-value utilization of the resources.
