Lanthanum Oxide Price - September 17, 2020

Rare earth market quotation in China: the lanthanum oxide and cerium oxide prices decline sharply from RMB10,000.00 per tonne to RMB 9,500.00 per tonne, and other product prices also in the downward trend on September 17, 2020.

In the light rare earth market, there has been in a downward trend. From the perspective of demand, the main reason is that downstream magnetic material companies basically completed the purchase plan ahead of schedule. This has led to a slight decline in the demand market, traders’ wait-and-see sentiment and poor liquidity; from the perspective of supply, as the epidemic gradually subsides and the weather improves, most rare earth smelting companies have basically returned to normal production, which has effectively alleviated the tight supply of some products. This is also the reason for the slowdown in consumers’ stocking up.

The medium and heavy rare earth market is still weak. Although the purchase and storage of medium and heavy rare earths are expected to account for a large proportion of the annual output, the market confidence has declined due to the fact that the purchase and storage plan has not been implemented, and the global manufacturing industry is developing generally. Downstream merchants are more sensitive to high-priced resources, so the prices of some products have declined to varying degrees. However, supported by costs and traditional consumer peak seasons, there is limited room for price reduction.
