Gary Anderson First Players Through to PDC Home Tour Championship Group

The first of two semi-finals are complete in the PDC Home Tour and it is Gary Anderson and Jelle Klaasen who have advanced to the Championship Group.

Anderson who due to internet problems wasn’t initially even in the tournament is now nine matches unbeaten on the PDC Home Tour after another exceptional night from ‘The Flying Scotsman’.

It could have been different for him though as he was given a scare in his first game of the night against Mike de Decker who fought back from 5-2 down to force a decider. He edged through though to collect the points.

A win over Dave Chisnall followed 6-3 which sealed both him and Klaasen’s spots in the next round after the Dutchman himself had impressed going two matches unbeaten also. This was due to Chisnall and De Decker being unable to match their points totals.

The St Helens ace claimed a consolation win over Mike de Decker 6-5 to finish third after failing to make it through.

Then it was the battle of the group winners and it was one which was won by Anderson who as a result like alluded to has not been beaten so far in the PDC Home Tour completing the clean sweep with a 6-2 win over Klaasen.

Jelle Klaasen has claimed two wins from two so far to put himself right in contention. He began the night by pouncing on some poor play from Dave Chisnall who hit no 180’s and 25 percent on the doubles; which allowed ‘The Cobra’ a 6-2 win.

From there, he made it back to back with a 6-3 win over Mike de Decker with a high checkout of 152. The former Lakeside World Champion was a spoiler in terms of Peter Wright moving through in the last phase; but can he end the hopes of either Anderson or Chisnall tonight similarly?

Gary Anderson himself was lucky to win his first tie against Mike de Decker as he was given a scare with a late comeback from 5-2 up; the Belgian forced a decider but the two-time World Champion claimed the points as he looks to continue his form.
