Galan Lithium Limited (Galan) announced the initially estimated lithium mine resources of its Hmb (HMW, Hombre Muerto West) project in Argentina. The company believes that its grade, purity, and scale have "exceeded" the company's expectations, thus making its overall amount of resources has increased by nearly 160 percent.
Galan Lithium Ltd is an Australian based international mineral exploration company with rights to earn a 100 percent interest in lithium brine projects located within the South American Lithium Triangle in the Hombre Muerto Basin, one of the most important and prolific salt flats in Argentina and indeed the world. The basin is known to have the lowest impurity levels of any producing Salar in the country and has been in production for over 20 years.
The six projects, covering around 25,000 hectares, lie on the Hombre Muerto salar, one of the most important and prolific salt flats in the country and indeed the world. The Hombre Muerto salar is home to Livent Corporation's El Fenix lithium brine operation, Galaxy Resources Limited's and POSCO's Sal de Vida project and boasts the highest lithium brine grades along with the lowest impurities within Argentina.
The total resources of Galan Company increased from 685,000 tons of LCE, with a grade of 672 milligrams per liter to 1.77 million tons of LCE, with a grade of 837 milligrams per liter, an increase of 158 percent.
At HMW, lithium mine resources for Pata Pila and Rana de Sal are 1.08 million tonnes of contained lithium carbonate-equivalent (LCE) grading 946 milligrams per liter lithium.
The company's managing director, Juan Pablo Vargas de la Vega, announced that the Galan project possesses the highest grade and lowest impurity lithium brine in Argentina, and some others are also active here.
The new resources provide solid data for the outline and pre-feasibility studies of HMW and Candelas projects, making the company more flexible in planning. Galan is studying how to coordinate the development of the lithium mine project in Hombre Muerto, Argentina and assess the potential of nearby Del Condor and Pucara de Salar.
