The Historic Xihuashan Tungsten Mine

Xihuashan tungsten mine is a medium-sized first-tier enterprise affiliated to China Nonferrous Metals Industry Corporation. It is located in Dayu County, Jiangxi Province - the originator of Huaxia Tungsten, as well as the earliest and the longest mined, and be crowned as the best quality all over the world, who is known as the "tungsten capital of the world".

The Xihuashan tungsten mine is located 9km northwest of Dayu County, Jiangxi Province. It is a large black tungsten deposit with a cumulative proven reserve (WO3) of 81,300 tons, accompanied by considerable minerals such as molybdenum, bismuth, tin, copper and rare earth. During the first five-year plan period, the mine construction was one of the 156 national key projects.

Xihuashan tungsten mining has a long history and is well-known both at home and abroad. As early as the Song Dynasty, tin miners were found. Tungsten ore was discovered in 1907, and the mining began in 1915-1916. More systematic geological surveys started from 1929 to 1938. After the founding of New China, large-scale formal geological surveys were carried out from 1952 to 1955.

The ore deposit is located at the southwestern end of the Xihuashan-Zhushukeng tungsten-tin belt in the metallogenic belt. It is produced in the Yanshan period compound granite plant. The mining area is 6.48 km2 and the mineralized area is 2.86km2. There are total of 524 veins in the region. Except for a few distributed in metamorphic rocks, most of them are contained in the rock mass.

The ore veins are distributed in a concentrated zone, and they are all divided into three areas of north, middle and south. Ore minerals are mainly wolframite, followed by molybdenite, cassiterite, bismuth, chalcopyrite, and galena. The average grade of the ore is WO3 1.086%. During the Agrarian Revolution, the mine was an important fund-raising place for the Red Army in southern Jiangxi. After the founding of the PRC, it was one of the 156 key industrial construction projects in New China. Contribution, known as the opening of China's tungsten industry.
