Breakthroughs in Areas Like Rare Earth, Jiangxi Sets 12 Million Yuan for Technology Heroes

Jiangxi province has achieved breakthroughs in the areas such as development and application of high-performance rare earth and lithium-ion battery preparation and set a prize of 12 million yuan for rewarding technology heroes in core technologies.

The province held the Science and Technology Awards Conference last week, awarding the winning technology heroes and units which won the Provincial Natural Science Award, Technology Invention Award and Science and Technology Progress Award in 2018. Qi Liu, secretary of the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee, and Lianhong Yi, the governor of the province attended the awards. The total amount of bonuses exceeded 12 million yuan, a significant increase from previous years.

Jiangxi has a solid pace in the construction of innovative provinces in 2018, and its achievements are gratifying. Among the award-winning science and technology projects, 63 of the 14 Technology Invention Awards and the Science and Technology Progress Awards have increased profits by more than 20 billion yuan, saving 15.7 billion yuan and raising taxes by 5.4 billion yuan. At the same time, 45 natural science awards have achieved high-quality scientific research in the fields of analytical chemistry, food science, medical virology, microblogging technology, and electrocatalytic materials.
