Terbium Oxide Price - January 13, 2020

In the context of large consumption of downstream magnetic materials companies and strong rised mentality of upstream merchants who hope to increase product prices, the prices of light and heavy rare earth products have increased to varying degrees, and there are more transactions concluded. The short-term market may be strong.

From the perspective of the supply side, on the one hand, stricter environment protection and cold weather greatly increase the difficulty of mining enterprises’ production, which leads to a decline in output at the end of the year; on the other hand, China may reduce the export volume in the future, which may further increase the tension of the global rare earth supply chain.

From the demand side, as the development of new energy vehicles, wind power generation, excavators, smart appliances and other industries are expected to improve, the demand for magnetic materials companies may increase accordingly. Therefore, some consumers have taken the initiative to stock raw materials recently.

The latest listing price of Southern Rare Earth shows that the median price of gadolinium oxide has been increased by 9 million yuan/ton, and quotation range is 16.8~188,000 yuan/ton; the median price of terbium oxide has been increased by 600,000 yuan/ton, and quotation range is 7.2-7.3 million yuan/ton; the median price of dysprosium was increased by 60,000 yuan/ton, and the quotation range was 2.00-20 million yuan/ton; the median price of holmium oxide was increased by 20,000 yuan/ton, and the quotation range was 615,000-62 million yuan/ton.
