Molybdenum Tungsten Lanthanum Alloy Wire

The addition of lanthanum to pure molybdenum not only improves the strength and toughness of molybdenum, but also increases the recrystallization temperature of molybdenum and improves its high temperature resistance. Therefore, lanthanum-doped molybdenum alloys are used to replace pure molybdenum in the preparation of electric heating materials, wire cutting electrode materials, electric light sources and other industries.

Considering the above characteristics, in order to solve the above technical problems, the researchers used molybdenum, tungsten and lanthanum composite to prepare alloy wires. The preparation method comprises the following steps:

(1)Preparing high purity molybdenum trioxide, lanthanum oxide and tungsten according to the quality fraction, of which lanthanum oxide is 0.7% and tungsten 3.0%.

(2)High purity molybdenum trioxide was put into low temperature reduction furnace and reduced once in hydrogen atmosphere to obtain molybdenum dioxide powder.

(3)The molybdenum dioxide powder, lanthanum oxide and tungsten are mixed evenly in the powder mixer according to the proportion.

(4)Molybdenum tungsten lanthanum alloy powders were obtained by adding the doped mixture into the high temperature reduction furnace and secondary reduction in hydrogen atmosphere.

(5)Molybdenum tungsten lanthanum alloy powder is loaded into rubber sleeve, pressed into a round rod shape in an isostatic press, and then sintered at 2000 (+200 C) in an intermediate frequency induction sintering furnace to make it metallized and dense, thus obtaining a molybdenum tungsten lanthanum alloy wires with good processability.

(6) Molybdenum, tungsten and lanthanum alloy rods were forged, drawn and straightened by multi-pass rotary forging, and annealed in the middle to produce the required specifications of molybdenum, tungsten and lanthanum alloy wires.

The strength and high temperature resistance of molybdenum alloy wires can be synthetically improved by combining dispersion strengthening with solution strengthening mechanism and doping lanthanum and tungsten. Compared with molybdenum-tungsten-lanthanum wire, the tensile strength of the prepared molybdenum-tungsten-lanthanum alloy wire can be increased by 10-20%. It can be used in high current WEDM and prolong its service life.
