Tungsten Aluminum Alloy Preparation by Powder Metallurgy

Tungsten aluminium alloy is a new type of alloy material. It consists of tungsten and aluminium. It has high temperature resistance of tungsten and light weight and oxidation resistance of aluminium. It is a special lightweight alloy material with high temperature resistance, high hardness, high wear resistance and high strength, and can be used as structural material of aerospace engine.

Based on the respective advantages of alumina and tungsten, high temperature wear resistant alumina and tungsten composites can be prepared by powder metallurgy. In this process, powder preparation is the key of powder metallurgy process. The preparation method of tungsten aluminium alloy is made of the following raw materials: aluminium 50-70, tungsten 5-10, silicon 5-10, manganese 5-8, nickel 2-5, iron 10-15, calcium 1-5, magnesium 5-10, carbon 2-5, boron 2-5, sodium tetrafluoroborate 2-5, zinc 5-10, boron fiber 2-5.

1)Aluminum, tungsten, silicon, manganese, nickel, iron, calcium, magnesium, carbon, boron, sodium tetrafluoroborate, zinc and boron fibers are crushed into metal powder with particle size of 0.3 mm according to the above ratio.

2)Put the powder into the smelting furnace for heating and melting, heating up to 800 ℃ and holding for 2 hours, the obtained liquid aluminum alloy is heated at 900 ℃ for 40 minutes before casting.

3)Cooling;

4) Tungsten aluminium alloy is obtained by casting in the casting mould.
By adjusting and optimizing the composition of the material, the prepared aluminium alloy material has high heat resistance, strong flexibility, simple preparation process, no complicated processing equipment, low cost, energy saving and easy to popularize.
