Tungsten dioxide in the air is rapidly oxidized to tungsten trioxide and heated at 500 ℃ will turn to blue tungsten oxide. At 1020 ℃, tungsten oxide can be reduced to metallic tungsten. At 250 ~ 300 ℃, using hydrogen or carbon monoxide restore tungsten trioxide, and in the vacuum heated tungsten trioxide to 200 ~ 250 ℃, can obtain violet tungsten oxide powder. the producing of tungsten oxide is mix tungsten powder and tungsten trioxide at the molar ratio of 1: 2 and under vacuum heated to 950 ℃, or at 900 ℃ can be produced WO3 by H2 with air steam reduction.

We can see in the blue tungsten powder not only including blue tungsten oxide particle as well as some component of violet tungsten oxide, and this phenomenon is present in most blue tungsten. This shows that in the producing technology of blue tungsten oxide need more improve.
