Yellow Tungsten Oxide Powder Applied for Liquid Electrochromic Device

Yellow tungsten oxide powder may be applied for assembling a liquid electrochromic device in the form of an electrochromic thin film. While as you may have known the electrochromic mechanism of tungsten trioxide has been debated. Certainly, at present, the commonly accepted and applied color change model exists. It is a dual injection model, also known as the Faughnan model or the inter-valency charge transfer model.

The model believes that the electrochromic mechanism of WO3 film is: under the action of electric field in the process of discoloration, the cationic M+ enters the gap of WO3 lattice to form tungsten bronze "MxWO3". The electrochemical process is: xM++xe-+WO3=MxWO3

In the formula, M+ is generally Li+, H+, Ag+, Na+, and the like. When ion injection, the WO3 film is colored to show dark blue color, and the room temperature conductivity can be changed from 10-10s/cm to l03s/cm. When the ions are extracted, the film becomes transparent again.
