Electrochromic materials have caused a wide range of interests among researchers over the past few decade as these materials can undergo reversible color changes under external voltage. Among them, nano particle size tungsten trioxide (WO3) was the most studied. For the amorphous tungsten trioxide film, experts say that it exhibits better electrochromic properties by eliminating the barrier effect of grain boundaries on ion transport. However, since the amorphous tungsten trioxide film cannot withstand the structural change caused by ion intercalation and deintercalation in the electrochromic process, and the ions easily fall into the material to reduce the light modulation range of the film, and therefore its cycle stability is poor. But, experts also said that tungsten trioxide will be more common in our daily life in the future.
