Tungsten Scheelite Cationic Collector

Cationic collector is the active groups adsorbed on the mineral surface to make the mineral hydrophobic cationic after dissociation. It can be used as tungsten scheelite collector. Fatty amines collector is the main type.

Cationic collector can be divided into primary amine, secondary amine, tertiary amine and quaternary ammonium salt according structure. Common used collectors are decylamine, dodecylamine, tetradecylamine, hexadecylamine, octadecylamine and tertiary amines and polyamines, they are insoluble in water, react with vinegar or hydro chloride to generate salt, dilute with water and then be used in flotation. Amine acetate or hydrochloride ionized in solution is the active ingredient of the collector.

It is known that the best scheelite cation collector is dodecyl acetate. When use dodecylamine salt as the collector and pH is less than 5.7, the scheelite is almost completely floated and flotation recovery rate is close to 100%. When use acetyl tetradecyl acetateas collector and pH value is 5, recovery rate is 99%. Use acetate octadecylamine salt as collector and pH value is 5.7, tungsten scheelite flotation recovery rate is 83%. Under the proper acid condition, cationic collector can realize separation of tungsten scheelite and calcite and fluorit.

Practice has proved that cationic collector such as the reaction with the mineral is fast, and sometimes do not even need stirring tank, flotation can be completed in a short time, and the sorting effect is also very good, most do not need to be selected. On the whole, the cationic collector's flotation effect is much better than fatty acid oleic acid and oleic acid wax, but why doesn’t the cationic collector has large-scale popularization in industry? The main reason is the cationic collector price is more expensive, but also shall be stored and used with the strong acid dangerous chemicals. There is risk not only in corrosion equipment and manual operation, but also pollution of river. Although the cationic collector effect ratio is good, but the above problems on the production costs of the ecological environment is of a huge impact. So many enterprises have to give up this choice.
