Tungsten Concentrate Coarse Separation – Photoelectric Separation

Tungsten concentrate coarse separation is gathering tungsten ore from mine, then enters the first premium grade separation process before gravity separation. 

Due to uneven distribution of tungsten concentrate in quartz vein mines, tailings mixed in the gathering process is huge. Separate tungsten concentrate and tailings at primary stage can promote efficiency of subsequent processes, save cost, time and lower wastage.

Photoelectric separation is mainly used in coarse ore separation at abroad. It is put into application since 1970s in China, gradually replace artificial beneficiation in some mines. The abandon rate reaches 91%, classification rate is 35% higher than artificial beneficiation.

Photoelectric beneficiation equipment is the key of the method. After crushing tungsten ore, tungsten grains are sent to the machine. By exploring mine one by one can identify its grade, then abducting substandard ores, or pick useful minerals. The most important is the recognizable property between minerals and surrounding rock.

Photoelectric beneficiation has the best efficiency, the highest accuracy and the fastest dealing speed, it is benefit for promoting mineral grade of some low grade mine. However, its primary economic input and maintenance fee is expensive, operation requirement for workers are also strict. Although it has many advantages, we need to think twice before application. So it hasn’t yet been widely applied in coarse separation in China.
