Tungsten Ore Grade

Tungsten ore grade is tungsten trioxide (WO3) content in the exploited ore, it can be expressed by percentage of mass fraction. Usually the high grade one is called rich ore, low grade one is called poor ore.

Industrial grade of tungsten ore with WO3 0.12%~0.2% can meet the requirement of exploration, which means explore one ton tungsten ore can produce 12 kilograms WO3. After beneficiation, tungsten concentrate grade need to meet the standard of WO3 content 50~68%, tungsten scheelite with WO3 content 50~68%, tungsten concentrate mixed scheelite with WO3 content above 65%.

Tungsten ore grade is an important standard to specify whether the mine have exploration value or not. If the grade is too low, the explored ore has low economic value, also the labor cost, equipment and power cost far exceed revenue. Therefore, exploration of every tungsten mine need to have deliberate primary preparation.

Among tungsten mine in China, rich ores are mainly tungsten concentrate, it mainly distributes in the south of Jiangxi Province, grade is above 0.7%. The best one is Dajishan Tungsten Mine in Jiangxi, grade is 1.898%. Although tungsten scheelite has wide distribution, most of them are poor ore, grade is less than 0.75%. However, tungsten scheelite often comes with other precious metal. Under circumstances of modern metallurgy technology of separation, by comprehensive processing, it will also obtain well financial efficiency.
