Kazakhstan Akshatau Tungsten Molybdenum Mine

Famous tungsten mine – Kazakhstan Akshatau Tungsten Molybdenum Mine locates 150 miles away from northwest of Balkhash in Central Asiam altitude is about 740m, explored mine can be divided into three categories, 2740 thousand tons WO3 with 0.7% grade, 65 million tons WO3 with grade 0.2%, 30 million tons of WO3 with grade 0.05%.

Ore grade are not high. Estimated explored WO3 reserve is 150 thousand tons, Mo reserve is 5000 tons.

The deposit is composed by quartz-vein, which is greisen type and stockwork type, there are more than 30 quartz-vein mine body. The most valuable tungsten mine is in quartz-vein greisen type body, average grade of tungsten is 0.7%, molybdenum is 0.03%, beryllium is 0.02% and bismuth is 0.02%. Stockwork type average grade is 0.12% tungsten, 0.01% molybdenum, 0.01% beryllium and 0.01% bismuth.

After 70 years’ exploitation, Akshatau Tungsten Molybdenum Mine has been almost bare. But its geological position ahs significant research sense. The mine-forming zone covers both Xinjiang Province in China and Kazakhstan, it is formed by various metal mine deposit. From east to west, Xinjiang Province will have a good mining prospect.
