Tungsten Beneficiation (Ⅰ)

Tungsten is a kind of important metal, it is irreplaceable resource in modern industry and national defense construction. From original ore to various industrial products, tungsten is processed under four steps: raw material exploration, tungsten concentrate degradation, chemical transformation and produced into tungsten metal products.

Tungsten beneficiation is the first step of tungsten metallurgy. Tungsten concentrate has high grade and is easy to separate, while tungsten scheelite has low grade and high impurity content. Tungsten scheelite accounts for two thirds of world tungsten reserve, so adjust technology and method to process tungsten scheelite may be a good fortune.

Tungsten beneficiation method for tungsten concentrate is gravity separation process, tungsten scheelite is flotation method. Tungsten concentrate is originated from quartz-vein type tungsten deposits, tungsten element is concentrated and can be dealt with physical method. However, tungsten scheelite is originated from skarn-type deposits, tungsten element is rare and is filled with impurity elements, tungsten can only be extracted by chemical methods. With development of national industry technology, both gravity separation process and flotation method can achieve fine recovery rate. We can also find other valuable elements in tungsten scheelite. So they all have high economic efficiency. We will introduce gravity separation method and flotation method in next article.
