Tungsten reserve of Russia is 250 thousand tons, ranks the third place in the world. Tungsten is mainly locates in Siberia and far east region, the exploited tungsten are almost original tungsten deposit.

Some ores also contain molybdenum, copper, bismuth, gold and silver. Although its tungsten reserve is at leading place in the world, most of them are tungsten scheelite which is hard to beneficiate.

Famous tungsten mine – Primorsky Mine is 650km north to Vladivostok, it is one of main tungsten mine in east Russia. It mainly produces tungsten scheelite, reserve is 120 thousand tons, ore grade is 0.2%, yearly production is 5500t, is mainly exported to Japan and US.

In fact, Russia's domestic metal processing, oil and gas drilling and military industries have a large demand for tungsten, it is in short supply, but its requirement for tungsten metal still depends on imports. Primusky locates in the far east which is near Pacific Ocean, the heavy industrial zones are distributed in Ural area near Europe, the far distance plus poor traffic condition in Siberia, export tungsten abroad is more economical.
