Gamma Camera Tungsten Alloy Collimator

Tungsten alloy collimator is a key component that affects the imaging quality of gamma camera (γ camera). Tungsten alloy collimator on a gamma camera is to realize spatial positioning, so that rays from different spatial parts irradiate a specific position of the scintillator. Studies have shown that under the principle of taking into account both geometric resolution (or angular resolution) and detection sensitivity, reducing the transmission effect as much as possible is the core goal of γ camera collimator design.

In addition, the researchers developed tungsten alloy collimators with different tungsten contents using element powder mechanical mixing - cold isostatic pressing forming - high temperature sintering - vacuum heat treatment process. The results show that the ideal collimator shielding material is 95W-3.5Ni-1.5Fe, the best sintering process for mass production is: at 1753K, for 2h, combined with vacuum heat treatment process to obtain a gamma camera shielding material with ideal performance.
