Tungsten carbide end mill is a type of milling cutter used in industrial milling applications such as profile milling, tracer milling, face milling, and plunging. It is distinguished from the drill bit in its application, geometry, and manufacture. A drill bit can only cut in the axial direction, while most milling bits can cut in the radial direction. Not all mills can cut axially; those designed to cut axially are known as end mills.

Tungsten carbide end mill has advantages of high hardness, excellent wear resistance, good heat resistance, high strength and good toughness to meet the basic requirements of end mill on cutting materials.
Basic Requirements for Cutting Materials of Tungsten Carbide End Mill
1. High hardness and good wear resistance: At room temperature, the material of the cutting part must have sufficient hardness to cut into the workpiece; with excellent wear resistance, the end mill is not easy to wear, extending the service life.
2. Good heat resistance: The end mill generates a lot of heat during cutting process, especially when cutting speed is high, the temperature will be very high, so the material should have good heat resistance to maintain a high hardness for continuous cutting even at high temperature.
3. High strength and good toughness: During cutting process, the end mill must withstand a large impact force, so the material must have a high strength, otherwise it is easy to break and damage. End mills are subject to shocks and vibrations, so they should also have good toughness to avoid chipping.
