New Shaped Charge Liner Material: Tungsten Alloy

Tungsten alloy has become a new type of shaped charge liner material with wide application prospects due to its high melting point, high density, high sound velocity, good ductility, and good machining performance. Previously, some researchers used W-Ni-Fe alloy shaped charge liner for static penetration tests. The results showed that tungsten alloy shaped charge liner can form high-speed shaped jets with large hole diameter but low penetration depth. Some researchers have also tested the penetration properties of W-Ni-Cu alloy shaped charge liner in aqueous media. And it was found that the jet velocity formed by W-Ni-Cu alloy shaped charge liner is slightly higher than that of copper jet. When the wall thickness is equal, the hole diameter of jet formed by W-Ni-Cu alloy is finer and the penetration ability is deeper. All in all, as a new type of new shaped charge liner material, tungsten alloy is expected to replace copper to become the mainstream.
