Heat Resistant Water-based Nano Tungsten Disulfide Isothermal Forging Lubricant

Tungsten disulfide (WS2) is a kind of layered solid lubricant with structure similar to graphite. It has excellent high temperature resistance, extreme pressure resistance, good adsorption capacity on metal surface and low thermal conductivity. WS2 was first applied to the lubrication of the key parts of the American mariner spacecraft, and it was used to prepare high temperature extreme pressure grease and energy-saving engine lubricating oil, with good application results.

However, this lubricant has some problems, such as poor adhesion to metal, easy to expose metal surface, easy to extrude aluminum profile, poor suspension, easy to produce precipitation, high friction coefficient, slow film-forming speed, etc., as well as the need to improve the heat resistance, flatness and antibacterial properties, and the need to improve the surface protection performance of metal.

As a technical improvement project, the researchers proposed a preparation method of heat-resistant water-based nano tungsten disulfide isothermal forging lubricant, which includes the following steps:

(1)Dissolve the silane coupling agent KH560 in water, stir evenly, add the nano-W2S and nano-W3O3, stir uniformly by ultrasonic, then add the nano carbon ball, stir uniformly by ultrasonic, and get the mixed material;

(2)Pan-80, nano montmorillonite and polystyrene quaternary ammonium salt were added into the mixture of pan-80 and nano bentonite to obtain the mixture;

(3)Mix the materials obtained in step (1) and step (2), stir evenly, add butyl acrylate and methyl acrylate, heat to 67-72 ℃, stir and react for 30-40 minutes, add other remaining ingredients, and continue to stir and react for 20-30 minutes.

Through the use of nano montmorillonite, polyalkylene glycol, nano tungsten trioxide and polystyrene quaternary ammonium salt, the dispersion stability of the lubricating liquid is improved, and it has good physical adsorption with the metal, which can quickly adsorb on the metal surface to form a uniform protective film, improve the lubricity, and maintain good lubricity at high temperature.
