Tungsten Disulfide Lubricated Refracting Telescope

Tungsten disulfide has great application value in the lubrication of refracting telescope, which is a main type of astronomical telescope. The parts of refracting telescope can be lubricated with tungsten disulfide. And the lubricated parts usually have long service lives, together with high work efficiency.

A refracting telescope (also called a refractor) is a type of optical telescope that uses a lens as its objective to form an image. This kind of telescope has high contrast, high definition and wide field of vision. The lens on refracting telescope is used as the primary mirror. The light refracting through the lens and the tube meet at a point, which is called "focal plane". The refractor has the appearance of thin-walled long tube. This kind of telescope is easy to use.

So what are the different refracting telescopes? Let’s have a look.

1. Galileo Telescope

Galileo telescope is the first astronomical telescope of human beings. It uses a concave lens as an eyepiece, and the image seen through the telescope is erect, which is the same as that seen directly with the eyes. As this kind of telescope can't enlarge the field of vision, it is no longer used in astronomical observation at present.

2. Kepler Telescope

Kepler telescope uses a convex lens as an eyepiece. The convex lens puts more than two lenses together to enlarge the field of vision. It improves the aberration and eliminates the chromatic aberration effectively. Though the imaging is upside down, the telescope with this design is frequently used. In addition, a hyperboloidal convex mirror is equipped with the telescope as the secondary mirror. And the lens tube of the telescope can be shortened. However, this kind of telescope has some shortcomings as well. The field of view is usually narrow. And the astigmatism is serious. Sometimes, there is a little field curvature.

The parts of refracting telescope are often prone to the problems of getting stuck and surface damage, which affects the accuracy of measurement data. Tungsten disulfide can be used to lubricate the parts and reduce the friction loss effectively.
