Tungsten Disulfide Solid Lubricant

Tungsten disulfide with lamellar structure is an excellent solid lubricant with good lubricant performance. It has many advantages in lubrication, so it is widely used in the fields of electronics, food, medicine, space machinery, etc.

As a solid lubricant, tungsten disulfide has the following advantages:

1. Low friction coefficient (0.03);

2. Strong compression resistance, standard load up to 100000PSI or the same as that of the substrate;

3. High oxidation resistance and extreme pressure resistance. Its operating temperature ranges from 450°C to 650°C. It is suitable for lubrication under various harsh conditions such as high temperature, high pressure, high load, and so on;

4. Good adsorption capacity. It can be absorbed on the surface of metal;

5. Harmless. It has no harm to human health.

Compared with lubricating oil and lubricating grease, tungsten disulfide can effectively decrease the oily dirt produced during the lubrication and reduce the friction loss between two moving surfaces. It is a preferred lubricant for the users.

There are two main applications of tungsten disulfide solid lubricant. It can be used as tungsten disulfide powder and tungsten disulfide solid lubrication film.

Tungsten disulfide powder is the base material for preparing lubricating materials containing tungsten disulfide. It can be used on the friction surface directly. For example, it can be used on the threaded surface of giant bolts, on the surface of glass valves and so on.

Tungsten disulfide and organic binder (epoxy resin) or inorganic binder (sodium silicate, etc.) are mixed to form a film-forming agent that is sprayed or brushed on the friction surface to form a solid film with self-lubricating properties, which is the formation of tungsten disulfide solid lubricant film. It can effectively reduce the friction loss between two moving surfaces.
