Foam Metal Tungsten Preparation

Foamed metal tungsten is a kind of material with double properties of function and structure. It has certain strength, high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance, and has low density, high porosity and large surface area. It is widely used in modern defense and military, atomic energy, aeronautical and aerospace, electronic information and other fields.

At present, the preparation methods of porous metal materials are mainly melt metal foaming, powder foaming, spray foaming, matrix soaking, dry sintering, loose powder sintering, etc. these methods are not suitable for the preparation of high melting point tungsten foam. Some methods have such problems as small size and pore size distribution, uneven pore structure and difficult control. Therefore, new foam tungsten preparation methods need to be developed.

Recently, scholars have developed a new method for preparing tungsten foam metal with tungstate as the material.

1.Raw materials: The raw materials used are ammonium metatungstate, ammonium nitrate, urea (or glycine), citric acid and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid.

2.Solution preparation: dissolve the selected raw materials in water according to a certain proportion and prepare an aqueous solution.

3.Preparation of precursor system: Step 2 is heated and stirred by water solution. With the evaporation of aqueous solution, the solution bubbled after condensation and released a large amount of gas to form a foamy precursor.

4.Preparation of foamed metal tungsten: the precursor obtained from step 3 is sintered at reduced temperatures under different temperatures for 1~2 hours, and foam metal tungsten with pure pore size and controllable pore size can be obtained.

Scientists directly use tungstate ammonium tungstate as raw material to control the reaction process of precursor preparation by controlling the type and proportion of raw materials, controlling the size, pore size and pore structure of precursor, and obtaining high-performance foam metal tungsten. The process is short, the cost is low, and the process is simple and suitable for large-scale production.
