Low Cost Tungsten Electrode Manufacturing Method

Tungsten electrode made of tungsten is widely used for welding because of its high melting point, corrosion resistance, high density, good heat conduction and conductivity. It is especially suitable for TIG welding and other electrode materials similar to this kind of work.

At present, the tungsten electrodes are usually made of tungsten based rare earth oxides with low electron escape work, which are prepared by powder metallurgy and mechanical processing. However, in the actual use of tungsten electrode, because of the need to hold, the back end of the electrode often has 3 to 5cm, resulting in a great waste of material and the increase of the cost of use.

In order to save cost, a low cost tungsten electrode was obtained by welding the tungsten electrode and the Cr-W-Mo-V alloy steel rod by welding the high temperature welding machine at high temperature. The metallurgical bonding strength of the tungsten electrode interface is high, which not only ensures the use performance of tungsten electric extremes, but also guarantees the standard length of tungsten electrode, saves the cost of tungsten electrode production and the cost of argon arc welding under the condition of saving tungsten materials. The specific contents are as follows:

1)The tungsten electrode of 3/4 to 4/5, which has the length of the current standard tungsten electrode, is prepared by powder metallurgy, rotary forging, drawing and cutting with traditional tungsten electrode.

2)Cr-W-Mo-V alloy steel rod with the same diameter as tungsten electrode rod;

3)The ultrasonic cleaning of the tungsten electrode and alloy steel rod is put into the ultrasonic cleaning device equipped with environmental water base cleaning agent. The ultrasonic cleaning frequency is 60 ~ 130kHz, the solvent temperature is controlled at 25~100, the ultrasonic power is 300 ~ 1000W, and the time of vibration washing is 10 to 60min.

(4)After 4 ~ 12h at room temperature, the tungsten electrode of the tungsten electrode rod - alloy steel rod is placed at room temperature. The surface of the rod is polished or polished, that is, a low cost tungsten electrode is obtained. The length of the electrode is in accordance with the standard length of the current tungsten electrode, and the length of the welding section is 0.5 ~ 0.8mm.

This method uses low price alloy steel material instead of tungsten material, which greatly reduces the cost of raw materials. Welding materials made of Mo-W-Ni-Co-Fe are used in welding section, which increases the homogeneity of the material components of both sides, increases the strength of metallurgical bonding interface, and ensures the durability of low cost tungsten electrode at work.
