Preparation of Tungsten Carbide Target

Tungsten carbide is a compound consisting of tungsten and carbon. It is a black six party crystal with metallic luster and hardness similar to diamond. It is a good conductor of electricity and heat. The tungsten carbide film is coated with a reinforcing phase on the tool, thereby improving the wear resistance, heat resistance and service life of the tool. Tungsten carbide target is the best choice for tool plating.

The main steps in the production of tungsten carbide target are as follows:

(1)The tungsten carbide powder with a purity of 99.999% is loaded into the graphite mold to make cold pressing.

(2)The graphite mold containing the cold pressed tungsten carbide powder was put into the discharge plasma furnace and heated to 1600-2200℃under the protective atmosphere.

(3)In the above discharge plasma furnace, a fast discharge is formed to form a short circuit, and then the tungsten carbide powder is sintered at once to form a fine and uniform tungsten carbide target blank.

(4)After the blank is taken out with the furnace cooling, and machined as required, the tungsten carbide target is obtained.

Tungsten carbide target with a uniform grain size, wear resistance heat resistance can be used for mining, petroleum, construction and other industries drill bit coating strengthening, the strength and wear resistance of the oil exploration bit can be greatly improved by the coating of the target, and the service life of the drill can be prolonged.
