It is well known that tungsten powder and tungsten carbide powder prepared from tungsten are not only the main raw material of cemented carbide, but also the main raw material of tungsten alloy with high content. The use of tungsten as an additive material is very versatile and has been used in the fields of machining, mining, geological drilling, construction tools, and military applications.
Since the 1950s, China introduced tungsten smelting and cemented carbide production technology from the Soviet Union. In the 1980s, it introduced advanced technologies and equipment for the production of cemented carbide from Sweden and other western countries. However, the research and development of tungsten in China has been based on the principle of self-reliance and serves the production of products on the basis of its foundation, universality and novelty. From the 1950s to the 1960s, research and development on tungsten in China focused on the smelting and development of tungsten raw materials. From the 1960s to the 1980s, Chinese researchers realized that the quality of tungsten intermediate products would affect the final product quality of tungsten, and began to shift the research direction to the basic and technological research of tungsten oxide.
In recent years, research on tungsten in China and around the world mainly focuses on the reduction of tungsten powder and tungsten carbide powder, the kinetics of carbonization process, the behavior of trace elements and the powder morphology of tungsten powder and tungsten carbide powder and granularity research. Research on tungsten powder and tungsten carbide powder is still a subject to be further developed and perfected. Most of its research focuses on overcoming powder auto-ignition, simplifying the process, improving productivity and reducing costs.
