The removal of impurities plays a vital role in the quality of tungsten products in the process of tungsten smelting. As an element similar to tungsten, vanadium is associated with tungsten ore, and it is difficult to separate tungsten and vanadium. In recent years, the raw materials of high grade and high quality tungsten ores have been reduced, and the low grade ore and refractory ores with high impurity content have been increased, the problem of separating impurity elements from tungstate is becoming more and more important, and the separation of vanadium, as an impurity element, is also particularly important.
The main methods to remove vanadium from tungstate solution at home and abroad are ion exchange and activated carbon fiber adsorption. The main principle is to adjust the pH value of the solution. Under the condition of lower pH value, the adsorption of vanadium cation by chelating resin or the adsorption and separation of vanadium cation by activated carbon fiber is carried out. To achieve the purpose of separating vanadium. However, the above method must consume a large amount of acid to reach the separation condition, which increases the cost of the process operation.
Recently, some scholars have innovated a method of removing vanadium from tungstate solution. Through the vanadium-containing tungstate solution directly added iron salt or iron hydroxide precipitation, to achieve the purpose of the direct addition of vanadium.
When removing vanadium, only iron salt is added to the tungstate solution to stir it. Because the iron hydroxide has larger surface area and faster vanadium removal rate, the vanadium removal rate can reach more than 95% in 5~300 minutes with different vanadium content. Due to the use of cheap iron salts, the cost of removing vanadium is very low.
No matter which kind of iron salt is added into the reagent, it will transform into trivalent iron in operation, and when removing vanadium, only iron salt is added to the tungstate solution to stir it. As the specific surface area of the iron hydroxide is large, the vanadium removal rate is very fast, and the vanadium removal rate can reach more than 95% in 5~300 minutes with the vanadium content. Due to the cheap iron salts, the cost of vanadium removal is very low.
