Rare Earth Market - September 25, 2025

Rare earth market update on September 25, 2025

The domestic rare earth market overall continues to operate in a weak state, primarily characterized by differentiated price declines across numerous products, low enthusiasm among traders for market engagement, and limited actual transaction volumes.

Today, the prices of praseodymium-neodymium oxide, terbium oxide, and dysprosium oxide have decreased by approximately 8,000 yuan per ton, 70,000 yuan per ton, and 10,000 yuan per ton, respectively. Notably, amid the recent oscillatory decline in raw material prices, suppliers of rare earth permanent magnet materials have also adjusted their quotes downward to a certain extent.

It is understood that the primary reasons for the difficulty in stabilizing rare earth prices are weaker-than-expected downstream demand and the absence of significant bullish news releases in the market. However, influenced by the robust development of downstream industries such as robotics and new energy vehicles, limited capacity releases from some rare earth production enterprises, and high expectations among industry players for future market trends, suppliers have generally kept their price reduction margins small. Recently, frequent rainfall has been one of the factors hindering some rare earth mining enterprises from fully releasing their capacity.

The official website of the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Natural Resources indicates that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Shaanxi added a total of 4,211 tons of rare earths, 91,100 tons of tungsten, 422,700 tons of molybdenum, 133.12 tons of gold, 50,700 tons of copper, 24,000 tons of antimony, 30,800 tons of lithium, 7.782 million tons of graphite, 4.1089 million tons of manganese, 207,900 tons of vanadium, 1.314 million tons of fluorite, 2,289 tons of cobalt, 688,000 tons of rutile, 8 million tons of phosphorus, and 230,000 tons of lead-zinc. The preliminary estimated potential economic value is 300 billion yuan.
