Rare earth market update on September 24, 2025
The overall performance of the domestic rare earth market is moderate, with a somewhat stagnant negotiation atmosphere between suppliers (with low willingness to reduce prices) and buyers (with limited consumption capacity), and no major news releases in the market, resulting in product prices fluctuating within a narrow range and limited actual transaction volumes.
Today, the prices of praseodymium-neodymium oxide, erbium oxide, and dysprosium-iron alloy are approximately 578,000 yuan per ton, 336,000 yuan per ton, and 1,570,000 yuan per ton, respectively. It is understood that strong production cost support, limited capacity release from rare earth manufacturers, and downstream users primarily procuring on an as-needed basis have, to some extent, bolstered suppliers’ confidence in maintaining stable prices.
Recently, the China Rare Earth Investor Relations Activity Record indicates that the company believes, as the application scope of downstream end markets expands, the growing demand for rare earths in industries such as humanoid robots and low-altitude economy will further highlight the value of rare earth products. Meanwhile, the successive issuance and implementation of the "Rare Earth Management Regulations" and related detailed rules will help regulate industry development order and promote high-quality industry growth. Therefore, the company predicts that rare earth product prices will maintain a steady upward trend.
According to the Baotou Industry and Information Technology Bureau, in August 2025, among the 9 rare earth products under key monitoring in Baotou, prices increased for 6, remained stable for 1, and decreased for 2 on a month-on-month basis, and increased for 8 and decreased for 1 on a year-on-year basis. The highest month-on-month and year-on-year increases were both for neodymium oxide, with an average price of 589,250 yuan per ton, increased by 106,188 yuan per ton (a 22.0% rise) month-on-month, and increased by 199,650 yuan per ton (a 51.2% rise) year-on-year.
