Rare Earth Market - July 29, 2025

Rare earth market update on July 29, 2025

The overall domestic rare earth prices are fluctuating within a reasonable range, with the price of praseodymium oxide increasing by approximately 3,000 yuan per ton, praseodymium-neodymium oxide by approximately 11,000 yuan per ton, terbium oxide by approximately 50 yuan per kilogram, and holmium oxide decreasing by approximately 3,000 yuan per ton.

Notably, driven by the recent fluctuating upward trend in praseodymium-neodymium raw material prices, the price of neodymium-iron-boron blanks has shown a steady upward trend.

From the perspective of bullish factors, firstly, the frequent high-temperature and rainy weather, intensified environmental enforcement, crackdown on illegal mining, and high energy prices have slowed the capacity release of some rare earth production enterprises. Secondly, with elevated geopolitical risks abroad and tightening overseas rare earth supplies, the import volume of rare earth products in China remains limited. Thirdly, as the number of manufacturers obtaining rare earth export licenses gradually increases, the export volume of China’s rare earth products is expected to grow. From the perspective of bearish factors, firstly, the current high rare earth prices combined with tight funding conditions have led downstream users to primarily adopt a need-based procurement approach. Secondly, some downstream manufacturing sectors are currently in a phase of inventory digestion, resulting in limited short-term demand for rare earth raw materials.

In terms of news, recently, the Chinese Geological Society announced the 2024 "Significant Advances in Geological Science and Major Geological Exploration Achievements" projects. The project Innovative Exploration Theory and Technology for the Baiyun Ebo Carbonatite-Type Iron-Rare Earth-Niobium Deposit and Breakthrough in Mineral Exploration, jointly completed by Baotou Iron and Steel (Group) Company, the Institute of Mineral Resources of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, and the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, was recognized as a major geological exploration achievement in 2024. This marks an important breakthrough in the exploration history of Baiyun Ebo, providing significant support for ensuring the national security of strategic mineral resources such as rare earths.
