Rare earth market update on June 24, 2025

The domestic rare earth prices remained stable in parts with slight adjustments in some cases.

Among them, the prices of praseodymium oxide, terbium oxide and holmium oxide were approximately 463,000 yuan/ton, 7,180 yuan/kg and 518,000 yuan/ton respectively. In terms of positive factors, first, affected by the limited incremental supply of some rare earth raw materials and the high prices of overseas rare earths, many holders have a strong willingness to hold up prices; second, the Ministry of Commerce announced the acceleration of the rare earth export approval process, which is conducive to alleviating the tension in the global supply chain and may help the domestic rare earth prices rise. In terms of negative factors, the insufficient inquiry and procurement enthusiasm of magnetic material enterprises and other rare earth downstream production enterprises has become one of the important factors restricting the heating up of the rare earth market.

In terms of news, the Ministry of Commerce stated that as a responsible major country, China has fully considered the reasonable demands and concerns of various countries in the civil field, examined the export license applications for rare earth-related items in accordance with laws and regulations, has legally approved a certain number of compliant applications, and will continue to strengthen the examination and approval of compliant applications.

In terms of news, on June 19, Baotou INST Magnetic New Materials Co., Ltd. issued an announcement stating that the company and/or the proposed newly established wholly-owned or holding subsidiary will invest in building an integrated application project for rare earth permanent magnet materials in the Baotou Rare Earth High-tech Zone. The total investment of the project is expected to be 650 million yuan, of which the first phase is expected to invest 400 million yuan and the second phase is expected to invest 250 million yuan. The construction period of the project is pided into two phases, of which the first construction period is from June 2025 to June 2027, and the second construction period is from June 2027 to June 2028.
