Rare Earth Market Update - March 18, 2025

Rare earth market update on March 18, 2025

The domestic rare earth market has maintained an overall stable operating trend. The interplay of bullish and bearish factors has made it difficult for buyers and sellers to reach a high degree of consensus during negotiations, resulting in product prices lacking momentum for significant increases while also being resistant to substantial declines. At the same time, order growth has been relatively slow.

From the perspective of positive factors: First, downstream manufacturing enterprises have maintained basic rigid demand, providing stable support for the market. Second, the continued low import volume of Myanmar ore has, to some extent, reduced pressure on market supply. Third, sustained environmental crackdowns and high production costs have slowed the capacity release of some rare earth manufacturers. Fourth, the strong development trends in downstream rare earth industries such as robotics, new energy vehicles, and smart homes have significantly bolstered suppliers' confidence in holding firm on prices.

On the bearish side: First, since the Spring Festival, rare earth prices have risen with fluctuations and significant increases, leading to a strong sense of caution among downstream companies due to fears of high prices. Second, amid a complex and volatile global economic situation and limited liquidity, downstream users have become increasingly cautious in their consumption behavior.

According to China Tungsten Online, since the Spring Festival, the price of terbium oxide has increased by approximately 690 yuan, a rise of 11.58%; neodymium oxide has risen by about 36,000 yuan, up 8.41%; praseodymium oxide has increased by around 41,000 yuan, up 9.76%; praseodymium-neodymium oxide has gone up by about 29,000 yuan, a 6.95% increase; praseodymium-neodymium metal has risen by approximately 33,000 yuan, up 6.42%; dysprosium oxide has increased by about 50,000 yuan, a 2.99% rise; and dysprosium-iron alloy has gone up by around 20,000 yuan, a 1.22% increase.
