China Neodymium Oxide Price - Aug. 11, 2020

Terbium oxide, neodymium oxide and praseodymium neodymium metal prices in China continue to edge higher thanks to active inquiry from downstream. But actual transactions are limited as most product prices are in a relatively high level.

Firstly, due to the high temperature and flood season, the output of some rare earth smelting companies has significantly reduced, resulting in tight supply of neodymium metal and its oxide products, and quotations have risen sharply; secondly, downstream users are hoarding goods against the background of gradually increasing purchasing and storage expectations, making it difficult to find low prices on the market; thirdly, the continued spread of overseas epidemics and the greater geopolitical risks in various countries are still the cause of consumer demand fatigue, and orders are limited.

In July, over 60% of the prices of 33 industrial products monitored by the Baotou Industry and Information Bureau showed an upward trend. Among them, the price of rare earth products increased or remained flat month-on-month for half: Among the eight rare earth products monitored in July, the prices of 4 kinds of rare earth products increased or remained flat month-on-month. The average price of rare earth carbonate was 21,000 yuan/ton, the same month-on-month; a year-on-year decrease of 8,000 yuan/ton, a decrease of 27.6%; the average price of cerium oxide was 10750 yuan/ton, a month-on-month decrease of 250 yuan/ton, a decrease of 2.3%; a year-on-year decrease of 1,500 yuan /ton, a decrease of 12.2%; the average price of neodymium praseodymium was 371,500 yuan/ton, a month-on-month increase of 13,800 yuan/ton, an increase of 3.9%, and a year-on-year decrease of 35,000 yuan/ton, a decrease of 8.7%.
